How it works
Make a board · send the link · tap
Tap Start a team board, give it a name, pick a currency and your nickname, and the board exists. No sign-up. Copy the link and paste it in Slack, Teams or the group chat.
Teammates open the link and pick a nickname. All January, each time someone turns down a drink, they tap Skipped a drink. Two beers skipped at a work dinner is two taps. Undo takes one back.
Forgot last night? The next day, turn on Log for yesterday and tap. Older days can’t be changed, so nobody fills in the whole month at once.
Just me gives you the same screen for one person. Solo mode lives in this browser only and sends nothing anywhere.
How the numbers are worked out
Drinks · money · kcal · pizzas · streak · chart
Drinks skipped counts taps dated January 1 to 31 only; anything logged for December or February is left out. One person can log up to 20 drinks a day.
Money saved is drinks skipped times the board’s price per drink, in whole units, rounded down. If any logged drink has no price, money is hidden rather than shown as $0. The exact amount sits next to the short one.
Calories add up the NHS figures (beer and wine are “up to”). Pizzas are total calories divided by 2,538 and cut to one decimal, never rounded up.
A streak is the run of logged days ending today, or ending yesterday if you haven’t logged today yet. On the chart, each vertical line is a day of January. The dry front stands on today and moves east one day per day. Each person is a station on the day they last logged: filled if they logged today, open if not. Top left is drinks skipped, bottom left is the streak. The station with the most drinks gets the H. There is no L.

Alcohol Change UK’s warning, word for word:
“People who are clinically alcohol dependent can die if they suddenly, completely stop drinking.”
“Talk to a GP or your local community alcohol service who will be able to get help for you to reduce your drinking safely.”
This board is for adults who drink and want a month off. It isn’t a treatment or recovery program.

What the board keeps, and for how long
Nicknames and taps only · deleted 2027-03-03
A board keeps its name, currency and prices, the nicknames, and how many drinks each person logged per day. No email, no phone number, no location. A random key made by your browser tells your taps apart; the server keeps only its hash.
The 12 characters after # in the link name the board. Browsers don’t send that part to analytics. Analytics get coarse labels such as currency, drink type and a team-size bucket. Never nicknames or prices.
Boards delete themselves 30 days after January ends (2027-03-03). The person who made a board can delete it any time, and anyone can leave and erase their own taps.

FAQ
- What is Dry January and who runs it?
Dry January® is a month off alcohol, run by the UK charity Alcohol Change UK. It started in 2013 with 4,000 people. This board uses the name only to say what it's for; plusbeauxjours is not affiliated with Alcohol Change UK. Their own free app is Try Dry.
- How do I do Dry January with my team at work?
Tap Start a team board, give it a name, pick your currency and a nickname, then paste the link in Slack, Teams or the group chat. Teammates open it, pick a nickname and tap Skipped a drink each time they turn one down. Everyone sees the same totals and the same January chart.
- Do my teammates need an account?
No. Joining takes a nickname and nothing else. Your browser keeps a random key that marks your taps as yours; the server stores only a hash of it. No email, no phone number, no location. Use a nickname, not your full name.
- How is money saved calculated?
Drinks skipped times the price per drink on the board. US boards start with Bureau of Labor Statistics store prices for Sep 2026: $2.25 for a pint of beer and $2.41 for a 175 ml glass of wine. Bar prices are higher, so edit them. There's no sourced default for pounds, euros or won, so those boards show money once someone types a price.
- How many calories are in a drink?
The NHS lists up to 222 kcal for a pint of 5% beer, up to 158 kcal for a 175 ml glass of 12% wine, and 100 kcal for a 50 ml double of 40% spirits. The board adds them up and shows the total as large cheese pizzas at 2,538 kcal each (USDA). The pizzas are a unit, not a suggestion.
- What do people say they get from Dry January?
In a University of Sussex survey (de Visser, 2019) cited by Alcohol Change UK, participants said they saved money (86%), felt more in control of their drinking (81%), slept better (70%), concentrated better (67%), had more energy (66%), felt healthier overall (65%) and lost weight (54%). These are participants' own reports, and the sample size is not published on that page.
- Is it safe to stop drinking suddenly?
Not for everyone. Alcohol Change UK says: “People who are clinically alcohol dependent can die if they suddenly, completely stop drinking.” and “Talk to a GP or your local community alcohol service who will be able to get help for you to reduce your drinking safely.” If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop. This board is a team tally, not medical advice.
- What happens to our board after January?
Boards are deleted 30 days after January ends (March 3, 2027 for this season). The person who made the board can delete it sooner, and anyone can leave and erase their own taps at any time.
