How to make and post your ghost carousel

Four steps, under a minute

Write 3 to 6 things you're ghosting this October. Habits, apps, plans, people (keep it kind). Each one gets its own slide, 4 to 60 characters, so short and punchy works best: “Replying all,” “Pretending I'll go to the gym,” “Plans made at 1 a.m.”
Pick a color. Midnight is the classic dark Halloween look; Mint and Peach are softer if your feed is light. Add your name if you want it signed on the last slide.
Download the carousel. You get a .zip with one 1080 × 1350 PNG per slide, the cover first. That's Instagram's tallest portrait size, so nothing is cropped in the feed.
Post it. Unzip, open Instagram, tap +, choose Post, select the images in order (ghosting-carousel-1 first) and share. Swipe through before posting to check the order.

Want the moving version? Download as video (beta) records the preview once through, about 10 seconds, so you can post it as a Reel or a TikTok. It uses your browser's built-in recorder: the file is MP4 or WebM depending on the browser, and we name it by what was actually recorded.

What is the “things I’m ghosting this October” trend?

Where it came from, and when it ends

“Things we’re ghosting this October” started as a single viral Instagram post in early October 2026 and turned into a format: a cover slide, then one slide for each thing you're quietly dropping, with a little ghost floating from slide to slide. Social media agencies were already calling it the “ghost flying through slides carousel” by the second week of October, and creators kept remixing it into the third.

The joke works because ghosting usually means disappearing on a person. Here you ghost the things that drain you instead: the group chat, the 2 a.m. scroll, the plans you never wanted. It's a Halloween format, so it has a hard stop: once October 31 passes, it's done for the year.

Ready-made versions exist as paid Canva templates. This one is free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser.

What is the “things I’m ghosting this October” trend?

It’s an Instagram carousel format that took off in October 2026: a first slide that says “Things I’m ghosting this October,” then one slide per habit, person or plan you're quietly dropping, with a little ghost floating through the slides. It's a seasonal joke, so it runs until Halloween.

Do I need Canva or an account?

No. Type your list here, pick a color, and download. There's no sign-up, no template club and no watermark on the slides, only a small plusbeauxjours.com/ghosting credit in the corner of the last slide.

Is anything I type uploaded?

No. The slides are drawn in your browser, and the PNGs and video are made on your device. Nothing you type is uploaded, saved, or sent to any server, including our analytics, which only counts things like how many slides you made.

How do I post it as an Instagram carousel?

Tap Download carousel, unzip the file (on iPhone, tap the .zip in Files; on Android, open it in Files by Google), then in Instagram tap +, choose Post, select the images in order (ghosting-carousel-1 first) and share. Each image is 1080 × 1350, Instagram's tallest portrait size, so nothing gets cropped.

Why can't I download a video on my phone or browser?

Video export records the animation with your browser's built-in recorder (MediaRecorder). Chrome and Edge support it; Safari needs version 16.4 or newer; some in-app browsers don't have it at all. If the video button is turned off, the PNG carousel still works, and it's what Instagram carousels use anyway.

Why is my video a .webm and not an .mp4?

Each browser records in the format it supports. Safari and recent Chrome and Edge usually give MP4; Firefox and older Chrome give WebM. We name the file after what your browser really made. Instagram and TikTok accept MP4 directly; for a WebM, post it from a computer or convert it first.

Can I make another one?

Yes, as many as you like. Change the text or the color and download again. Nothing is saved, so if you reload the page your list starts over.

Nothing you type leaves this device

Everything you type stays on this device. Nothing is uploaded, saved, or sent to any server — the images and video are generated right here in your browser.

There is no account and no server-side storage. When you reload the page, your list is gone. The page counts anonymous events (for example, “a carousel with 4 slides was downloaded”) to see whether the tool is useful; those never include what you typed or your name.
